Eagle Lake is fishing fair to good for rainbow trout, with the best activity coming during the early morning and again toward evening when temperatures are cooler. Trout are being found around rocky shorelines, points, drop-offs, and areas where deeper water is close to shore.PowerBait remains a good option for shore anglers, with rainbow, chartreuse, garlic, and orange colors being productive choices. Nightcrawlers and salmon eggs are also being used successfully, especially when fished on the bottom with a light leader.Small spoons and spinners are producing trout for anglers covering water. Silver, gold, rainbow, and darker-colored lures are good choices. Thomas Buoyant, Kastmaster, Needlefish, and Rooster Tail style lures can be effective when retrieved slowly with occasional pauses.Trolling anglers are working deeper water with small spoons and minnow-style lures. Trolling slowly and varying the depth until fish are located has been the better approach.Fly anglers are using Woolly Buggers, leech patterns, Hare's Ear nymphs, Pheasant Tail nymphs, and small midge patterns. Streamers worked near rocky structure and drop-offs can be effective early and late in the day.The warmer part of the afternoon can slow the trout bite, so focusing on deeper water and shaded shoreline areas is recommended. Early morning and the last couple of hours before dark are the best times to target trout.For shore anglers, I would start with PowerBait or a nightcrawler on the bottom while also keeping a small silver or gold spoon available to search for actively feeding trout.

As of late February 2025, fishing conditions at Eagle Valley Reservoir in Nevada have been influenced by environmental factors. Algae growth has limited fishing opportunities, making it challenging for anglers to find success. Despite these challenges, some anglers have reported catching trout using PowerBait and night crawlers during the early morning and late evening hours.
