Baily Pond has been providing fair to good fishing for rainbow trout during the cooler parts of the day. Early mornings have been the most productive, with another bite window developing during the last hour or two before dark. As the sun gets higher, the trout move away from the shoreline and hold in slightly deeper water, making a slower presentation more effective.The best bait has been rainbow and chartreuse PowerBait, salmon eggs, and pieces of nightcrawler fished either on the bottom or suspended a few feet under a bobber. Anglers throwing lures have been having success with small silver or gold inline spinners, 1/8-ounce Kastmasters, and Trout Magnets retrieved slowly with occasional pauses. Fly anglers are finding fish on olive and black Woolly Buggers, Hare's Ear nymphs, Pheasant Tail nymphs, and small leech patterns stripped slowly or drifted under an indicator.Most trout have been running 10 to 15 inches, with an occasional larger fish mixed in from recent stockings. The most consistent areas have been along the deeper shoreline edges, around weed lines, and near the aerator. Bluegill and green sunfish are also active and can be caught using small pieces of worm, mealworms, or tiny jigs beneath a float.
