Baily Pond is fishing fair to good for rainbow trout, with the best action during the cooler parts of the day. Early morning has been the most consistent, with another good bite developing during the last hour or two before dark. As the day warms up, trout are moving away from the shoreline and holding in slightly deeper water, so slower presentations have been working better.Anglers are catching trout using rainbow and chartreuse PowerBait, salmon eggs, and small pieces of nightcrawler. These are working best fished on the bottom or suspended a few feet below a bobber.Small silver or gold spinners, small spoons, and Trout Magnets are also producing fish when retrieved slowly with occasional pauses. Fly anglers are having success with olive or black Woolly Buggers, Hare's Ear nymphs, Pheasant Tail nymphs, and small leech patterns.Most of the trout are running around 10 to 15 inches, with some larger fish mixed in. The deeper shoreline areas, weed lines, and areas around the aerator have been productive.Green sunfish and bluegill are also active. Small pieces of worm, mealworms, and tiny jigs under a bobber are good choices for them. The sunfish have been providing action throughout the warmer part of the day.For the best chance at trout right now, I would start early with PowerBait, salmon eggs, or nightcrawler on the bottom, then switch to a small spinner or spoon if the bait bite slows down.
