Davis Lake is fishing fair to good, with the better trout action coming during the early morning and evening when water temperatures are cooler. Trout are being found around the deeper sections, drop-offs, shoreline structure, and areas where cooler water is entering the lake.PowerBait has been one of the better bait choices, with rainbow, chartreuse, and garlic-scented varieties producing fish. Anglers are also using nightcrawlers and salmon eggs, especially when fishing from shore. Fishing bait on the bottom with a light leader has been effective around deeper water.Small spinners and spoons are working for anglers covering more water. Silver, gold, and rainbow-colored lures are good choices, with a slow retrieve producing better results than a fast presentation. Small Kastmaster, Thomas Buoyant, and Rooster Tail style lures can be effective.Fly anglers are using small Woolly Buggers, Hare's Ear nymphs, Pheasant Tail nymphs, and small leech patterns.
