Cowlitz: Is open for Hatchery Steelhead. Winter Steelhead is on! It should be getting really good soon. A few Spring Chinook have been caught. To retain a Spring Chinook on the Cowlitz it must have a clipped adipose and clipped ventral fin. Recommended techniques: Bobber and eggs or plunking eggs. For Steelhead Plunking with a Spin n glow with a coon shrimp or eggs can be effective as well as Bobber fishing with beads, eggs and jigs, spinners and spoons can also be effective.

Fishing in the Cowlitz for Coho Salmon is very good and should remain good for the next few weeks. Fishing will be best above the Toutle after heavy rains. Daily limit 6, up to 2 adults may be retained. Release all salmon other than hatchery Chinook and hatchery coho. Use Twitching jigs, spinners and small plugs for the Silvers. Winter Steelhead will soon be arriving get stocked up for the season at Sportsmans!
