Cowlitz: It is open for Hatchery Steelhead and Hatchery Chinook. Steelhead fishing is good. Looking like a good summer run this year. Water conditions and levels have been improving. Springers are being caught, Springer fishing will pick up in May and early June! the Cowlitz is projected to get a good run. Techniques / Gear: Steelhead Plunking Coon shrimp and spin n glo is effective as well as Bobber fishing with beads, eggs and jigs, spinners and spoons can also be effective. Fishing in the Cowlitz for Coho Salmon is very good and should remain good for the next few weeks. Fishing will be best above the Toutle after heavy rains. Daily limit 6, up to 2 adults may be retained. Release all salmon other than hatchery Chinook and hatchery coho. Use Twitching jigs, spinners and small plugs for the Silvers.
