Blue Creek: Winter Steelhead starting to work their way up the Cowlitz Open for Hatchery Salmon, Steelhead and Cutthroat. Tacoma Power employees recovered 11 Coho adults, four Coho jacks, one summer-run steelhead adult, and 104 winter-run steelhead adults over five days of operations at the Cowlitz Salmon Hatchery separator. River flow below Mayfield Dam is 10,100 cubic feet per second on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Water visibility is 11 feet and water temperature is 44.2 degrees F. River flows could change at any time so boaters and anglers should remain alert for this possibility. Recommended Techniques: Divers and bait or bobber fishing with Beads, jigs or eggs. Come into Sportsman's for additional information.

Fishing is very good on this stretch of the Cowlitz River. Late run Coho, are Biting on Spinners and Twitching jigs. Sea run Cutthroat are taking fly's and small spoons and spinners. Winter Steelhead should be showing up soon! Bobber and jigs, eggs and beads should all be good techniques. We have all the gear in stock, gear up while supplies are good!
