Right now its offseason for regular trout stocking and typical fishing activity at Clear Lake. The last formal ODFW report for Clear Lake was posted in late November2025, and at that time the information noted that the lake is accessible for fishing but didnt include any recent fish planting or current bite details. Clear Lake is normally stocked with rainbow trout during the springsummer months, with multiple plantings occurring through MayAugust, but there are no recent stocking updates for January2026.Because Clear Lake is a cold highelevation lake that relies on seasonal stocking and natural trout reproduction, the best fishing generally occurs in late spring through early fall after snowmelt and during active stocking periods. Winter conditions tend to slow fish activity and access can be limited by snow and cold weather.Anglers heading to Clear Lake in midJanuary should expect slower winter fishing with rainbow trout present but less active than in peak seasons, and without recent stocking there may be fewer catchable fish. If the weather is mild or boat access is possible from Clear Lake Resort or shoreline spots, fishing early in the day around structure with small lures or flies could produce occasional trout, but overall winter fishing here is typically quiet and slow compared with spring and summer.
