Fishing at Blue Mesa Reservoir is currently slow to moderate, with surface water temperatures running approximately 6668F. The best fishing has generally been during the early morning and late afternoon/evening, when cooler temperatures are producing better activity. During the warmer middle portion of the day, anglers should expect the bite to slow down.Anglers are still targeting lake trout and kokanee salmon, although success can vary throughout the day. Boat access, including Elk Creek, may operate on a day-to-day basis, so anglers should verify current ramp conditions before heading out. Overall, expect a fair mid-summer bite, with timing your trip around the cooler parts of the day offering the best chance for success.
