As of March 25, 2026, fishing at Ridgway Reservoir and the adjacent Uncompahgre River tailwater (Pa-Co-Chu-Puk) is rated Fair to Good for the spring transition. While water temperatures remain coldslowing fish metabolismstable flows and recent insect activity are providing rewarding opportunities for technical anglers. Ridgway Reservoir ConditionsFishing action in the main reservoir is currently rated 2/5 to 3/5 due to cold water temperatures around 34F to 37F. Target Species: Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, and Smallmouth Bass. Sterile Walleye were recently introduced to manage the population.Top Tactics:Deep Water: Fish are holding in deeper thermal areas to conserve energy. Use deep-water jigs or bottom-fish with PowerBait and nightcrawlers.Shore Fishing: Best in the morning before 11:00 AM using gold or silver spoons.Boating: The Dutch Charlie ramp is the primary launch point. All motorized vessels must pass a mandatory Aquatic Nuisance Species (ANS) inspection.
