Provo River - Middle
Rating - Fair
Wednesday, Jan 04 2023
Jan 3rd. 2023: Stream flows are hovering around 150 cubic feet per second below Jordanelle dam, and 130 CFS at River Road Bridge. Small midge patterns are working midday - BWO hatches are pretty sporadic, but midge hatches are regularly occurring noon into early afternoon. Small Patterns tend to be most effective during the winter on the Provo river, and nymphing small sow bug, mayfly nymph, and caddis larva in deeper water produces fish when there are no hatches occurring. We recommend using size #20-#24 midge nymph, caddis nymph and baetis mayfly nymph patterns, as well as size #18-#20 worm patterns. Anglers fishing deeper pools/runs closer to Deer Creek Reservoir may find swinging soft hackle patterns, or dead drifting balanced leeches and streamers pretty effective for hungry browns and bows. The middle Provo Receives a lot of angler use. Please be mindful of other anglers, share the resources.
