Fly fishers in particular enjoy making the trip to the reservoir. Fishing deep with streamers, woolly buggers and leech patterns usually turns some trout. Pontoon boats are a common sight here and most fly fishers use sinking line to reach the fish. There is a boat ramp for launching boats on the smaller side of the lake. Crankbaits trolled along steep drop-offs can be productive. Traditional trout baits will also work from shore. For the Anglers that aren't Fly Fishing. Techniques very depending on the particular species you are after. From the shore trout baits work well for Cutthroat and worms work well for Tiger Trout. Casting spoons, Rapalas and marabou jigs also work well for any species, my favorite being a Jake's Spin a lure in gold with red spots especially this time of year and when spring fishing is coming up around the corner Jakes Spins work the best as well as Panther Martins, Colors: yellow with red, black with yellow, silver, bras, and rainbow trout. Pro Tips: Fishing in Currant Creek below the dam can be difficult due to thick vegetation, but there are some sweet fishing holes and beaver dams that hold plenty of trout to make up for the hassle. There are several social trails that lead down to some of the secret pools and if you are willing to find your way in, the rewards will be worth it. Ice Fishing: Some diehard Currant Creek Reservoir lovers enjoy making the trip into the fishery in the winter months on a snowmobile to fish the hardwater. Fishing is typically best when the reservoir first has safe ice. Fishing is always good when the first open water emerges from the melting ice each year. The road to Currant Creek Reservoir is plowed to the dam, however it is narrow and mostly just a single lane from the ranch to the dam. snow pack is the area is around 160 to 170% of average for this time of year. Angler report some slush on the reservoir but Cutthroat and a few tiger trout. Typical when fishing up at Currant Creek, you are wanting to us spikes, wax worms, meal worms, when using jigs, the colors you would typical want to us are white, chartreuse, lime green, pink/ pink with white, blue, yellow, and black with a pink or yellow jig head hooks.
