So far in 2025 the bass have been biting good, both striped and largemouth, with catfish also being caught well. The water is currently at a lower level and is rather clear, making sight fishing possible in many places. Most fish can be found in the many coves around the lake. Striped bass have been responding well to spoons and Ned rigs, as well as Dropshots. but can also be caught with bait, anchovies being the best choice (either under a bobber or on a carolina rig. Largemouth have been taking well to Dropshots, Crankbaits (diving over 10'), , walking topwaters or buzz baits , whopper ploppers , and Texas rigs. When choosing a soft plastic, natural colors have been fishing best like your green pumpkin and water melon red flake , Catfish, as always, have been taking well to worms, stink baits, and chicken livers (baited on hooks sized 4-8). If fishing from the shore, the waters around Scorpion Bay Marina have showed good results, and if you're launching a boat a good place to do so is the Castle Creek boat launch . for the most success try fishing the river since it has now been reopened
