Report Contributor Tic Smith/Southeastern Anglers Guide ServiceFishing Conditions What a difference a week makes! The cooler temps finally arrived, and the water temps dropped to the levels that the trout are active in. The folks from the Tellico, Irwin and Dale Hollow Fish Hatcheries have been working hard to get the river in the delayed harvest section stocked well. Better flows this week have spread the fish out and fishing has really improved from the Big Bend Parking Area upriver to the powerhouse. Fishing will only get better in the next month!Water clarity clearWater temps 57 to 62 degreesFlows check the TVA website for the flow schedule. (Lake Level Apalachia)Hatches and flies to use BWOs are the main hatch now. Small and large nymphs are producing fairly well. From tiny zebra midges to large stonefly patterns are producing. Streamers such as wooly buggers are good especially on cloudy days. BWO parachutes from #18 to #20 work fairly well on the rising fish. Streamers and larger nymphs are producing some larger fish in the fast water.
