As of Sept. 30, 2026, Patagonia Lake is in a late-summer/early-fall pattern. The lake is still warm, so the best fishing is concentrated around low-light periods rather than the middle of the day. Current water-temperature estimates vary by source, roughly 7884F.Patagonia Lake is a 265-acre reservoir and is managed by Arizona Game & Fish as a quality largemouth bass and catfish fishery.Bass fairFish first light and the last couple hours before dark.Early: topwater, walking baits, buzzbaits or spinnerbaits around reeds, points and seawalls.After the sun comes up, try 1225 ft around brush and points with a drop-shot, Carolina rig or deeper crankbait.The creek/reed area on the east/no-wake end is worth working, particularly around shallow cover.Catfish goodProbably your most dependable bite right now.Fish evening through nighttime, especially deeper holes.Cut bait, chicken liver, hot dogs or punch/stink bait are reasonable choices.Crappie slow to fairLook around brush, submerged structure and bridge/marina areas, roughly 1525 ft.Live minnows should have an edge over small jigs in the warm water.Trout not yet the main gameArizona's seasonal rainbow-trout stocking generally gets going in the cooler months; the park reports trout stocking from October through March.If I were fishing it this weekI'd launch before sunrise and start with a topwater or 3/8-oz spinnerbait along the reed edges.
