KAIBAB LAKE: The campground is closed, but typically opens in early May. Check with the Kaibab National Forest for details. The boat launch and day use areas are open. The limit is 2 bass minimum size 13 inches, the limit is 4 Channel Catfish, the limit is 4 trout. Only boats with a single 10 horsepower (HP) motor (or less) or single electric motor are allowed on Kaibab Lake. The lake is very low and launching a boat is challenging. The water clarity is very bad and bass anglers have seemed to have a tough time figuring them out, usually darker jigs, chatter baits and larger trout paddle tails are effective, they should be scattered around shorelines spawning, some may have possibly already spawned. The trout fishing has been been anglers have been targeting trout with power bait and brightly colored in line spinners. dry's should also be effective match the hatch and use what you see, mosquitoes, caddis, blue duns, knats etc... Crappie fishing has also been effective with smaller jigs and meal worms stick with your darker and brighter colors in 5-10 of water around structure.
