The bass fishing is picking up and the stretch of warm weather we have in store should make it red hot. The Sacramento River remains muddy in the main channel, but male striped bass are already milking as the recent weather conditions have spurred the upcoming spawn. Finding clear water in locations such as the Mokelumne River is a key, and the swimbait and glide bait for stripers is ready to break out. Largemouth bass is also best in the clear waters of the Mokelumne. Bass are being caught on spinnerbaits, squarebill crankbaits, bladed jigs and jigs.
