Salmon are starting to head into Salmon River. Angling in the area of the staging salmon gives you a pre-spawn catch opportunity. Out of Oswego, anglers are trolling within the depth range of 200-600 feet of water with riggers down 45-77 feet for salmon. Salmon will soon be moving into shallower water to stage for spawning season. Kings and cohos are biting well trolling with black, silver, and green mid-size magnum spoons as well as meat rigs or flasher fly combos. For brown trout, try trolling in 40 to 80 feet of water using spoons and plugs in bright colors. If possible, look for areas of off colored water around river mouths, these mud-lines can be good places to troll in or on the edge of. As the day brightens, fishing deeper often helps to extend the bite.
