Chautauqua Lake has 8-10 inches of ice and anglers are fishing all parts of the lake. Yellow perch are typically available and cooperative lake wide in 6-15 feet of water. Areas with weeds are best. For a better proportion of keeper-sized perch vs throwbacks, try jigging with smaller jigging Rapalas (or similar lures) and spoons tipped with a whole or portion of medium-sized shiner. Sunfish are found in the same areas as perch and more readily hit jigs with grubs. Shallow, weedy areas are good bets for walleye around first light. Anglers also target walleye from weed edges out to around 25 feet of water. Catches on the deeper flats (35 feet plus) and deep holes of the north basin are dominated by white perch and white bass.
