The bass bite was tougher for most of the past week as the fish moved deeper. Stripers are hitting live shad and cut anchovies the most, but three-inch silver swimbaits are a solid backup option. Kastmasters and Jumpin Minnows also can be productive for subsurface fish. Anglers are seeing some crappie action with jigs in the Overton Arm

Temperatures have increased above 100 degrees and as a result, early morning and late evening are providing the best opportunities. Catfish and striped bass are taking cut anchovies. Boating anglers are finding success at the cove entrances in the Vegas Wash area. Black bass are being taken along the weedy shorelines near Calville Bay and Hemenway Harbor.
