he Eureka fleet were finally able to get back to fishing last week following some wind and rough seas. With calm conditions through last Saturday, boats were able to head south to the cape for rockfish and spend quality time on the halibut grounds. Most of the action remains straight out in 270 to 285 feet.

The California halibut bite went wild in the northern portion of Humboldt Bay and drifting live bait has been the hot technique. Finally over the weekend the weather calmed and boats could make the run to Cape Mendocino where they found famished lings and rockfish that bit like maniacs.
