Spring Creek is currently blown out, due to another heavy rain storm from yesterday. The current flow at Axemann is 385 cubic feet of water per second, while the median (average) is 148 CFS... meanwhile, in Milesburg, the CFS is 649, while the median lies somewhere around 301 CFS. The great thing about Spring Creek is that it is a limestone creek, and therefor it generally stays at a steady level throughout most of the year, with it being spring-fed. This also means the water temperature stays consistently cooler than many of the other local creeks and rivers throughout the warmer months. It should be fishable within a few days, provided the rain holds off for a few more days! Today, until Wednesday looks like that should be the case. The most recent hatches include the following: BWO (sizes 18-22), Grannom Caddis (sizes 12-14), Tan Caddis (sizes 16-18), Little Black Stone Flies (sizes 12-14), Little Black Caddis (sizes 18-22), and Midges (22-26). Nymphing will produce fish early on in the day, while fishing dry flies during the mid-late afternoon should become more productive, when the fish begin to rise, particularly near the tail end of deeper pools, where the current begins to pick up.

Fishing has been heating up as hatches start for the spring. Blue wing olives, and grannoms have been hatching and presentations that match have been doing well. Catch and release areas may start to see more pressure as the weather improves as well. Stay safe on the water and good luck!
