Dead bait bottom fishing is currently the most effective technique from the surf. Bottom fishing with shrimp or cut bait has been fair to slow. The typical species being caught are Croaker, Sea Mullet, Pufferfish, and beginning to see some Bluefish show up here and there. Bluefish can be targeted with 3/4 oz or heavier jigs and surf spoons.
