Freshwater species such as Bass, Catfish, Crappie and many species of Panfish can be found north of the Isabella Holmes Bridge. With the water slowly getting warmer anglers are beginning to catch more bass. Baits being used vary from jigs, bladed jigs, Alabama rigs, spinnerbaits, and various soft plastics. Jerkbaits continue to work well with the water still being quite cool. Many anglers are catching bass on Berkley Stunna's in natural colors. A Junebug worm on a Shaky head seems to work well this time of year and year round. Fish seem to still be largely in a pre-spawn pattern. Striped Bass are still being caught in downtown Wilmington on bigger swimbaits.
