Inner Saginaw Bay: Reports indicated that bigger walleye were moving out deeper as some anglers caught nice walleye northeast of the Spark Plug in 28 feet of water. Elsewhere, anglers found walleye in the vicinity of the Spark Plug buoy in the shipping channel in 24 to 26 feet of water and off Linwood in 20 feet of water. Nightcrawler harnesses worked best, but limit catches were few and anglers were fishing all day to catch anywhere from five to eight fish.Lower Saginaw Bay: Anglers found some walleye in shallow water east of Finn Road on Callahan Reef when trolling nightcrawler harnesses in 4 to 7 feet of water. Catches were mediocre, with an average of five to seven per boat. Early mornings seemed to be best. Bass anglers out of Finn Road caught a few largemouth bass when fishing in 2.5 to 3 feet of water while casting top-water baits.Eastern Saginaw Bay: Fishing on the east side of the bay was reported to be very inconsistent for walleye. Fish were caught in as little as 10 feet of water near shore and out to 30-plus feet of water past the shipping channel. Better areas seemed to be out over the bar and toward the shipping channel in 24 to 26 feet of water, out from Sunset Marina and Sebewaing, out from Caseville near Oak Point in 15 to 25 feet of water and out around the Charity Islands. Anglers who caught decent numbers of walleye were covering lots of water with both crawler harnesses and body baits.
