Flaming Gorge

Rating - Excellent

Thursday, Aug 15 2019
Lake trout fishing has been getting better. Fish 70-100 feet near main channel points and ridges. Vertical jib a 1/4-3/8 ounce 3.5 inch white or glow in the dark tube jig tipped with sucker/chub meat. Kokanee fishing continues to be good this summer. Most fish are being caught in 45-80 feet using downriggers. Try Northland buckshots, kastmasters in chartreuse, pink, silver and gold and tip with Gulp maggots, corn, or meal worms.

The kokanee salmon fishing has been slow. Kokanee are picky about flashers and lure colors so keep mixing it up until you find the right combination. Trout fishing is good for both rainbows and lake trout. Spoons, jigs, and crank baits are working well from the shore and boats for rainbows. Try fishing off rocky points and inlets. For lake trout try finding schools and jigging a spoon or white tube jig with some sucker meat. Please keep your limit of small lake trout and kill all burbot.
