Muskie fishing has been sporadic at best. As the water begins to cool down, the wiper bite should pick back up.Black bullhead catfish are abundant in Cottonwood and can be caught directly off the bottom using traditional catfish techniques. Please consider harvesting this species, as they can be similar to channel catfish in taste. Please be aware the wiper limit has changed statewide. You may harvest three wiper at Cottonwood per day, per angler with no size restriction. At this time, we are still several years out from developing a boat ramp at Cottonwood. Please use caution when launching and navigating this reservoir as it is not a state park and no marker buoys are deployed for hazards. The irrigation company has improved the road across Cottonwood dam but, to prevent future damage, they have installed a gate across from the dam. Drive-in access across from the dam is no longer allowed. Please be aware that this is a dam safety issue. You may still park your vehicle and walk or fish all along the dam
