Strawberry

Rating - Good

The reservoir is 73% full and fishing is good. Boat anglers who fish early in the morning and shore anglers who fish in the evening are seeing success. Remember, anglers may not possess kokanee salmon at any waterbody statewide from Sept.10 through Nov. 30. For shore anglers, try fishing garlic trout dough bait 2 to 3 feet off of the bottom, a nightcrawler or a white tube jig tipped with a nightcrawler fished below a bobber, a wooly bugger or leech-pattern fly behind a casting bubble, metallic casting spoons, dressed inline spinners, minnow-mimic stickbaits and crankbaits. Also, try fishing a tube jig or marabou jig using a slip float (slip bobber) rig and tying the bobber stop on your line 6 to 10 feet from the jig, casting out 30 to 40 feet from shore and retrieving the line in short, slow spurts giving the jig more movement (making it more lively) as you reel. For boat anglers, try trolling spoons such as the Zona Lures Z-Ray, Thomas Cyclone, Luhr Jensen Needlefish, Luhr Jensen Krocodile, Eppinger Red Eye Wiggler, Johnson Original Sprite, Mepps Syclops or Acme K.O. Wobbler. Fishing the spoon behind a flasher or dodger (trailing the spoon 20 to 30 inches behind the flasher or dodger) can be very effective. Also, try vertically jigging white tube jigs tipped with nightcrawler or chub meat. Be safe on the water and remember to wear a life jacket. Strawberry Reservoir is a great place for anglers to go crayfishing! Checkout our website to learn how to catch and cook these tasty crustaceans.
