The Cascade Lakes Highway closed for the winter on Nov. 21. Deschutes County has not released an anticipated reopening date for the road yet. The current status of winter road closures can be viewed here. Open to fishing all year. Anglers report good fishing for rainbow trout. Last updated 5/1/24.

From Bend take century drive past Mt Bachelor. The turn to Lava Lake is about 16 miles south. Turn left at the sign and the lake and resort is about 1 mile down the paved road. Proceed past the turn off to "Little" Lava. You can also access from the south by taking road 40 west of Sunriver. Proceed to the Cascade Lakes Highway and turn south for about 6 miles.Click here to unsubcribe from your fishing reports.
