The Very nice fishing conditions continue on the Stone this week. Maybe a small bit of snow. Low temperatures will finally drop below freezing this week with high temps in the mid 40s. More and more fish will move into the deep pools as the water continues to get colder. A few BWO's have been hatching here and there. Some midges as well. Clouds are nearly necessary to make the dry fly action worth while. Fish can be found rising in some seemingly isolated areas. Deep nymphing has been most consistent. Smaller nymphs are catching the trouts attention more than anything subsurface. Perdigons, Olive Micro Mayflies and pheasant tails have been finding success regularly. BWO nymphs and worms will also be very effective moving forward. Streamer fishing has been pretty good this last week. Natural colored smaller streamers have been working the best for me. Buggers, sculpins, and zonkers are all excellent choices. If you are feeling frisky maybe try a sparkle yummy.
