Yankee Meadow

Rating - Fair

Saturday, Jul 06 2019
The water levels are high, and the fishing is fair. Anglers report catching few rainbow trout but primarily carp. Catching northern pike, walleye, channel catfish, and wiper is possible. If you're targeting northern pike, try using 1/2 to 3/4 oz spinner baits with a single blade and big skirt such as Blue Fox Foxtail Super Vibrax, Panther Martin Muskie Marabuck, Mepps Dressed Agila or Mepps Dressed Black Fury lures. We recommend fishing in areas where vegetation or structure are present. If you're bait fishing for pike, walleye or channel catfish, try using fresh carp meat, fresh Utah chub meat, fresh Utah sucker meat, fresh shrimp, chicken liver or dead red side shiner fished off the bottom using a slip sinker rig, or fished 12- to 18-inches off the bottom using a slotted peg float. If you're targeting walleye, try using Rapala Shad Rap lures, Rapala Husky Jerk lures, or Walleye Nation Shaky Shad. For rainbow trout, try using 1/4 or 1/6 oz gold Jakes Spin-A-Lures, 1/4 oz silver Zona Z Ray Lure, 1/4 oz hammered gold, or 14-ounce chrome Acme Kastmasters. If you're targeting wiper, try using mussels, nightcrawler, or white tube jig tipped with nightcrawler fished 24- to 36-inches below a bobber. Also, try using white or chartreuse 3/4-ounce bucktail jigs, 1/2-ounce blade spinnerbaits, bleeding shiner or nickel Heddon Super Spook Jr. lures, or black or frog white belly 2 1/2-inch Arbogast Jointed Jitterbug lures.
