Bass: Tournament angler Dearal Rodgers of Camden reports that at the end of September the bass fishing got really tough on Lake Wateree, but it should pick up this month. In October bass will follow schools of shad, with some fish moving into the creeks and suspending near the bait. While a jig will always work on Lake Wateree, shad-colored crankbaits, lipless crankbaits and spinnerbaits will also catch fish.Crappie: Veteran tournament angler Will Hinson of Cassatt reports that in October fish will move off brush and head into the creek channels where they will suspend and chase schools of bait. They will usually get higher in the water column as it cools, and fish can be caught on minnows and jigs.Catfish: Captain Rodger Taylor (803-517-7828) reports that early in October fish will be scattered out, and the best bet to locate them is drifting the flats with cut shad, white perch or bluegill. Even though fish are spread out it can be a good month to pursue catfish.

Bass: FLW fisherman Dearal Rodgers of Camden reports that there appears to be a good population of bass on Lake Wateree right now, and this June he expects them to continue to be mixed between shallow and deep. Frogs, shakey heads and Carolina rigs will all catch fish. Crappie: Veteran tournament angler Will Hinson of Cassatt reports that fish will be on brush this month, where they can be caught on both minnows and jigs. As it gets hotter they will move deeper towards the river channel.
