EAST WALKER RIVER September 08, 2024The East is currently running at about 125 cfs and is fishing very well. Weve had lots of very good reports coming from the lower sections of the river, past the bridge on Hwy 182 and on into Nevada. We havent heard much from the upper mile section where the fish kill occurred and are still recommending fishing past the first mile either on the California side or the Nevada side of the border. Below the bridge the water temps are good and the fish are healthy and very active. Theres been some good dry/dropper action with the lower flows as well as nymphing and weve also started to get a few good reports on streamers. Early and late in the day still seem to have the best action but there are some fish being pulled throughout the day. Some patterns that weve been hearing about: dea drift crayfish, sculpzilla, silver streak, rainbow warrior, perdigon, picky eater, darth baetis, micro stone, naked chubby, madam X. SCEIRINE RANCH September 08, 2024The Ranch has been fishing excellent lately with lots of nice fish being caught, some taping over 20 inches. The first streamer reports we started hearing about lately were coming from the ranch and the dry/dropper and nymphing action is also very good. Partially because of the fish kill on the California side of the river the bookings on the ranch have increased so if you want to reserve some time down there try to give us a call ahead of time so we can get you in. HUNEWILL POND September 08, 2024We had clients on the pond this week and things are definitely looking up! They were able to get into some very good fish with a good ol pheasant tail nymph! They reported that there are still a decent amount of weeds on the pond but there are also some very good clear areas that seem to be where the fish are hanging out. I would predict that the weed situation as well as the fishing should just get better and better until it freezes over! BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR September 08, 2024Bridgeport is also starting to get much more active with some good reports coming in from anglers trolling in the Rainbow Point area as well as bait fishing up in the channels. We also heard of some anglers who hammered the perch a couple days ago on jigs and lures. Most of the fish were seeing are in the 2 to 4 pound range with a few going over 5 pounds. Bait anglers are using pinched crawlers, mice tails, inflated crawlers and power bait and the trollers have been having some success with night crawlers, Thomas Bouyants, Kastmasters and Rapalas. KIRMAN LAKE September 08, 2024We received one report from Kirman this week, it wasnt a stellar report but it also wasnt a skunk. They reported that the water temps were now down in the low 60s and they were able to catch 3 brookies in the 15 to 16 inch range but no cutts were caught. They saw few fish rises which is atypical for Kirman. It sounds to me like the population on the pond is pretty low but there are still some decent fish to be caught. TWIN LAKES September 08, 2024The Twins are still producing some good numbers of fish both trolling and still fishing. The trollers are still fishing fairly deep with 5 or 6 colors of lead core out or downriggers down around 30 to 40 feet. Thomas Bouyants, Rapalas, Kastmasters and Needlefish have been doing well for them. Bait anglers are fishing from boats or shore with garlic power bait, mice tails, and pinched crawlers. WEST WALKER RIVER September 08, 2024We havent received much news from the West since the road was closed for construction but if you are able to get around or are coming from the North you should be able to do well with salmon eggs and crawlers for bait, Panther Martins and Blue Fox spinners for lures and dry/dropper rigs for flies. VIRGINIA LAKES September 08, 2024Were still getting lots of good reports from the Virginias and Trumbull from both lure and bait anglers. We havent heard much from the fly anglers up there lately but if you had an intermediate line with some buggers or other leech patterns you should be able to pull some fish. The bait anglers are using pinched crawlers, mice tails, inflated crawlers and power bait and the lure anglers are using Sierra Slammers, Thomas Bouyants, Kastmasters and Hook Up Baits.
