Trout fishing has been good so far this year andshould remain productive throughout most of theyear. Due to the amount of water forecasted torun through the lake, water quality conditionshould remain good all year. The lake is fullystocked; however, due to temperatures andoxygen levels observed during September 2022,carryover of last years fish is likely to be limited,so most fish will be in the 12-14 inch range. Over40,000 Rainbow were stocked prior to Januaryand in anticipation of runoff this year, springstocking is already underway. Warmer temps will bring on thebite for bass, which may bestarting a bit later than usual.Hopefully by mid-May bass getactive which should continuethrough September. TheSmallmouth fishery hasstabilized but will fluctuateannually in response to waterquality conditions, and all signspoint to a productive season. Theaverage size of bass caught hasbeen increasing for the past fouryears. Water clarity early in theseason provides some uniqueopportunities to sight fish(uncommon in Nevadas typically brown reservoirs). Asalgae loads increase target areas with brush or rockysubstrates.
