The lake surface water temperature is in the mid to upper 60s this past week. Many largemouth bass have spawned but there are still a few fish spawning or guarding fry. The water has been very clear. Largemouth bass are spread out and some can be found in the shallows, some are in their deep water summer areas, while others are somewhere in between. Bass are being caught on topwater, jigs, crankbaits, drop shot, or just about any other technique right now.
Trout fishing in rivers and streams is open but restricted to artificial flies and lures in streams above tidewater from May 22-Aug 31. Trout fishing in the lakes is open year-round. Trout fishing in Tenmile Lakes was good this past week with anglers catching lots of trout trolling wedding ring spinners.
