Strawberry

Rating - Good

Friday, Jan 06 2023
Jan 5th, 2023: Ice fishing conditions have improved. The snow atop the ice is firming up, allowing machines to get out without too much difficulty - however, another storm is expected which will change conditions in places. Use Caution. Anglers are still going to be fighting about a foot of slush out on the ice, but areas where the snow has been tracked are firmed up and keeping anglers out of the slush. Strawberry Bay Marina staf are reporting 6 to 8 inches of ice around the marina. White and pink colored paddle bugs tipped with nightcrawler are producing bows and cutts. The roads and parking areas are now plowed, so anglers should have a good weekend on the ice. Jan. 3, 2023: The Snow and Slush situation is bad. Strawberry Bay Marina reports thigh deep snow atop the ice, with Knee-deep slush in most places. Anglers are getting stuck/stranded out on the ice, requiring Wasatch Search and Rescue recovery because the snow ans slush are so bad. Both snow dogs and snow mobiles are getting stuck when attempting to venture out onto the ice. The Marina's shuttle service is limited until they can bus trails out onto the ice. Ice thickness is varied. Anglers are reporting 4-6 inched around chicken creek and the ladders. and 7-9 inches around the marina and mud creek. More snow is anticipated this week. So please use extreme caution and make safety a priority.
