Fall fishing at Staration reservior can be some of the best fishing of the entire year! Water levels have dropped over the summer and you can expect to have between 60-80% of capacity be the irrigation season end date which is October 15th. Starvation has a robust walleye population that has produced an overabundance of small walleye for the past 5 years. Average length of walleye is trending upwards, but biologist are still asking anglers to target and harvest a daily limit of 10 walleye 12-14" in length. In the fall months, walleye are eating anything that is available to them with diets of crayfish, yellow perch, midges and even larger rainbow trout. It is fairly critical to find fish on sonar before you begin targeting walleye. Yellow perch populations are on the rebound and have been caught abundantly throughout the reservoir. Yellow perch are a critical forage base for walleye in this fishery. Over the past several years forage enhancement stockings have occurred (black crappie and bluegill) and are still being evaluated for success. Fall trout fishing for both rainbow and browns can be fantastic at this fishery. Starvation grows quality rainbows with reports of fish up to 27" being caught this year. They are cruising shorlines, rocking points and inlet areas targeting bugs, zooplankton and crayfish. On occasion they will eat small fish (yellow percch) and crankbaits will be effective. Fall fishing at Starcation is usually good all the way into November. High pressure patterns in the fall keep the winds at bay and allow a beautiful day on the lake with cooler temperatures and very minimal recreational boat traffic. ** If you catch a red tageed walleye please report it ushing the website on the tag. Please visit Starvation State Park main page for the most up to date reservoir conditions.https://stateparks.utah.gov/parks/starvation/current-conditions/
