Starvation Reservior
Rating - Good
Friday, Jan 06 2023
The reservoir is at 74% capacity and is fully capped with ice. Knight Hollow ice is about 6-8 inches thick with less near the inlet channel. There is a pressure ridge that formed near the point on Dec. 19 and runs south towards Juniper Point. Rabbit Gulch ice is measuring about 4 inches thick, and the main ramp is measuring about 3 inches thick. Use a spud bar when exploring new areas of the lake. Fishing in Knight Hollow is fair and fish are extremely finicky. We recommend using jigging spoons tipped with bait. Water coming into the lake from the Knight Hollow diversion is murky. We are still encouraging anglers to target and harvest smaller walleye in this system. Recruitment and survival of small walleye in Starvation Reservoir has been exceptional over the past few years. Forage is still a limiting factor for walleye growth in the reservoir. Harvest of small walleye, from 10 to 16 inches in total length, is encouraged at this time (bag and possession limits apply). Fish this size range from 2 to 5 years old, and we are seeing a "stacking" effect at age 3 for walleye in this system. Please visit Starvation State Park webpage for the most up to date reservoir conditions.
