Provo River

Rating - Fair

Sunday, Jun 16 2019
The river flows are very high, having a current USGS measured flow rate of 1,150- to 1,200-cubic feet per second (cfs). Fast moving water can be very dangerous so please use extreme caution. We recommend fishing from the edges or from a raft as wading in these high flows is not safe. Anglers success in fair. Anglers report few hatches and lower success due to the high flows and restricted bank fishing. If youre fly-fishing, wet flies and nymphs are going to be your best bet. Try using brightly colored or flashy midges (size #16-#18), Zebra midges (size #16-#18), Prince nymphs (size #12-#14), Caeli Baetis (size #12-#14), or gold bead Prince nymphs (size #12-#16) under an indicator. We recommend adding weight your rig in order to get it down to the desired depth quickly. Also, try using bright streamers like bead head buggers, sparkle minnows, or zonkers. If youre spin-casting, try using 3/8- to 1/2-once bumble bee, crawdad or salmon fly Wordens Original Rooster Tail spinners, 3/8-ounce gold shiner, silver shiner, white or firetiger Blue Fox Foxtail Super Vibrax Spinners, or 3/8-ounce silver/gold, Tiger Black, or Rainbow Trout Panther Marin Holographic spinners.
