The BWO are coming off in the afternoons, roughly between 1 PM and 5 PM. Anglers fishing near the tunnels and Vivian park are doing well fishing very small BWO patterns on the surface, or just barely subsurface. Fish have been very active while its raining and snowing. Water is higher then normal this time of the year. Water levels are only going to increase this month as they start releasing water out of Deer Creek Reservoir.Provo River, Middle, legacy Bridge: Stream flows are hovering around 150cubic feet per second below Jordanelle dam, and 140 CFS at river road Bridge. Small patterns tend to be most effective during the winter on the Provo river, and nymphing small sow bug, mayfly nymph, and caddis larva in deeper water (deep runs, pools, holes) produces fish when there are no hatches occurring. We recommend using size #20-#24 midge nymph, caddis nymph and baetis mayfly nymph patterns, as well as size #18-#20 sow find swinging soft hackle patterns, or dead drifting balanced leeches and streamers pretty effective for hungry browns and bows. The middle Provo receives a lot of angler use. Please be mindful of other anglers, share the resources and practice good stream etiquette.
