Fishing for Smallmouth and Largemouth bass will start picking up in April as the water warms. Casting and retrieving spinners, plastics and suspending crankbaits, parallel to shore, can be an effective way them. Look for the Smallmouth's in rocky areas along the narrows, and Largemouth's near points and brushy habitat. Crappie will start picking up in May as they move shallow to spawn. Try using a 1/8th ounce jig tipped with a piece of worm under a bobber. In the Spring, yellow perch and black bullheads can be caught in shallow waters using a worm on the bottom.
