Pineview Reservoir (Blue Ribbon):Fishing forecast (September through November): Largemouth bass and smallmouth bass: Casting and retrieving spinnerbaits, plastics and suspending crankbaits parallel to shore can be an effective way to catch these fish. Smallmouth bass are mostly found near rocky areas, while both species may be found near points or brushy habitat. Black crappie: Many fish will start to move deeper during the fall and can be found in large schools congregating near the bottom in 20 to 45 feet of water. If fishing from a boat, try vertical jigging with a jig or spoon tipped with worm. Yellow perch: Those fishing for yellow perch from shore will do best fishing a worm on the bottom. For boat anglers, try looking for schools in water between 6 and 30 feet deep. When you find a school of fish, try vertical jigging for fish with a jig or spoon tipped with worm. Tiger muskie: Fall fishing for tiger muskies can be fast and fun. Try using topwater lures early and late in the day, targeting submerged vegetation or shorelines. Other tactics include using large bucktails, glide baits, crank baits, plastic baits or swim baits. Trolling is also a great tactic while resting your arms after casting those big lures. Muskies start to feed heavily as water temperatures drop. They feed on yellow perch, black crappie, bluegill, bass of both species and bullhead catfish found in the reservoir. Try using lots of different colors to find the color the fish want. (Aug. 29, 2024)
