panquitch lake

Rating - Fair

Saturday, Feb 15 2020
Ice is 10 to 14 inches thick. Fishing has slowed since the New Year as increased fishing pressure has affected fish in the most pressured spots. When an area is hit hard, active fish tend to move away. With the lake being fuller now than during the last ten years, there is no reason to pack into tent cities. Spread out to areas that haven't been hit so hard and don't be afraid to fish in deeper water (20 40 Feet). One angler recently found good success for rainbows 200+ yards from shore in 20 feet of water, using small jigs in white and green. The bite also becomes lighter and less frequent through the middle of the day. A fish finder is a big help in deeper water as you can see the fish coming in at different depths, allowing you to move your bait to the fish.
