Kokanee are being spotted at depths from 30 to 40 feet with J-Pexs, producing catches ranging 14 to 18 inches. Rainbow trout fishing remains solid with Rapalas, Wiggle Hoochies, or rolled shad from the surface to 20 feet. Bass tournaments are a regular occurrence now, and numbers of spotted bass can be taken on Senkos on a Neko-rig, umbrella rigs, or jigs in 15 to 35 feet of water while largemouth bass are moving into the backs of creeks at depths from 15 to 25 feet with jigs or swimbaits. Rainbow trout patterned swimbaits are producing the largest cut of bass. New Melones has a daily use fee of $8 with a boat launch of $10 (day use included). The lake rose to a foot to 1052.63 feet in elevation and 84% of capacity.

New Melones Lake is a reservoir on the Stanislaus River in the central Sierra Nevada foothills, within Calaveras County and Tuolumne County, California. The New Melones Dam and reservoir are a water collection and transfer unit of the Central Valley Project. New Melones Lake provides irrigation water, hydroelectric power, flood control, and wildlife habitat. Recreation uses include fishing, camping, and boating within the Glory Hole Recreation Area and Tuttletown Recreation Area.
