Striper 1 White seabass 1 Sand dabs 2 Surf perch 2 Chris Fishing Trips in Monterey is taking sand dab/Petrale sole trips for $120/angler depending upon weather and interest. Capitola Boat and Bait is hosting a dinner and silent auction on Feb. 4 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Trade Wind Club House with a spaghetti dinner prepared and served by the Wharf House. Contact information (831) 332-3046. The 19th annual Sand Crab Perch Derby on March 11 is sold out with 300 entrants signing up online within a few days of the registration opening. The beaches have been completely reformed, and the damage has been high to the region with the destruction of the Capitola and Sea Cliff piers. The beaches will fish differently than in the past as there are major changes to the structure. Rockfish season will not reopen for boat-based anglers until May 1 where it will be open from Pigeon Point in San Mateo County to Point Conception south of Morro Bay at all depths through September 30. From October 1 through December 31, the take of shelf and slope rockfish and lingcod is open seaward of the 50-fathom line. Take is prohibited shoreward of the 50 fathom RCA line. Chris Landing in Monterey will be offering sand dab/mackerel/Dungeness crab trips during the interim period of time.
