This is a great group of lakes to enjoy a day of fishing. Irene Lake has a nice population of Rainbows & Arctic Char. If you're using bait, Pautzke's Balls O' Fire and Nightcrawlers are excellent choices. 8 to 10 inch fish are the norm, but with patience, larger fish can be caught. Check the regulations as each lake has separate regulations. Fishing will stay good right up to freeze up and after the ice is safe for another month after that, before slowing down a little for winter. Small spoons, spinners, jigs and tubes in white, glow, chartreuse or gold are good choices. For best results troll Wicked lures or small spinners. Fly fish small nymphs, Chrominoids or wooly buggers. Also try Salmon eggs or shrimp under a float. Black or red nymphs fished behind a clear bubble can be a great presentation this time of year.
