Thanks to the remnants of tropical storm Debby, we've FINALLY gotten some decent rain! The river is back up to good fishable levels, and anglers are catching plenty of smallmouth bass, walleye, and muskie. For those fishing in the daytime, artificial or live hellgrammites, ned rigs, 3 inch wacky rigs, inline spinners, and small jerk baits are a safe bet for catching plenty of smallmouth. For those fishing at night, using lipless crank baits and jerk baits like the Rapala Shadow Rap, KVD J3000, or Lucky Craft Pointers should be the ticket for catching larger smallmouth who are more weary during the day, as well as walleye, and muskie. Fishing live or cut bait in deeper water at night should provide plenty of channel catfish as well... especially in areas like Newton Hamilton.
