Green River

Rating - Fair

Tuesday, Mar 31 2020
Flows are varying from 1250 to 2500 cfs. Flows ramp up in the morning, stay at about 2100 cfs and then ramp up to 2500 in the late afternoon for a short period and fall in the late evening. The Green River receives low angler pressure this time of the year but will see an increase in anglers if good weather occurs in this month. Streamer fishing continues to be good, especially on cloudy or warm days, using streamers in white, black, and ginger. Nymph fishing is usually good this time of year using size 20-22 gray soft hackles and zebra midges. Midge and BWO hatches are occurring and anglers have had success fishing small nymphs. More hatches will start to occur as days get longer and temps warm up. Spin fishing has also been good. Marabou or tube jigs in earth tones, white/chartreuse, and ginger are a good option in shallow or deep water. Rainbow or brown trout patterned crankbaits and spoons also work well. Pinch down the barbs for quick release. Early spring is a good time to fish the river.
