Green River

Rating - Fair

Thursday, Oct 24 2019
Flows are varying from 900 to 2000 cfs with a single daily peak. Bureau of Reclamation reports "Water temperatures at the Green River gauge downstream from Flaming Gorge Dam have been fluctuating due to a combination of planned equipment maintenance and unplanned equipment damage sustained last August. However, since we are nearing winter months, temperature fluctuations are not anticipated to be more than a few degrees Celsius. Reclamation is currently working to fix this issue." Chernobyl Ant and cricket patterns are working and small size may fly hatches are still occurring some days. Streamers fishing has picked up and can be really good this time of year. Spin fishing has been good. Marabou jigs or tube jigs in earth tones, white/chartreuse, and ginger are a good option in shallow or deep water. Rainbow or brown trout patterned crankbaits and spoons also work well. Pinch down the barbs for quick release. The river is still fishing well right now and the summer crowds are gone. Next few months are a good time to fish the river if you want to avoid the big crowds.See current water releases from Flaming Gorge Dam
