Echo Reservoir usually offers fair to good trout fishing and good action for smallmouth bass and yellow perch. Rainbows are common but there are also a few Browns and Cutthroats in the water. Less common but still present are walleye and black crappie. Anglers generally use Power Bait for trout, although lures and flies work equally well. Crappies take small worms, flies, and jigs. Largemouth can be caught with spinner baits like Jakes Lures especially sense spring fishing is just around the corner, Panther Martin Colors being: yellow with red, black with yellow, silver, and bras, crank baits which is Rapalas and other brand like it, flies, and worms. Ice Fishing: Echo Lake (40-minute drive) Stocked with Rainbow Trout, Largemouth Bass, Yellow Perch, Green Sunfish and Channel Catfish. Trout are best caught with lures, flies or natural bait such as worms; Bass, with top surface lures, crank baits with pork frogs or rubber worms. ICE FISHING: Winter (December- March) fishing forecast. Rainbow Trout were stocked in the fall and should be abundant throughout the ice fishing season. to target rainbow trout, tip small ice flies or tube jigs with wax worms or nightcrawlers on the tip of the hook, and fishing them 3 to 10 feet below the ice in 20 to 30 feet of water. for brown trout the yellow perch, tip tungsten ice flies and jigging raps with meal worms, and them actively jig them 1 to 2 feet off the bottom in 30 to 50 feet of water. try using ice flies and jigging raps that are colored, white, yellow, pink/ pink with white, green, and purple.
