Cape Mears: Great place to visit right on the coast in Tillamook OR, this lake is stocked with trout in the springtime, and is a great place to target largemouth bass and bluegill. Popular techniques for bass this time of year is a wacky worm, look to cast around structure in the lake for the best luck. Cape Meares Lake, Coffenbury Lake, Cullaby Lake, Lake Lytle, Spring Lake, Town Lake and Vernonia Pond all have warm water species. At 120 acres, this lake is the largest in Tillamook County. To reach this lake, go west on Third Street from Tillamook a mile and three-quarters; take the first right onto Bay Ocean Road and go five miles. The lake sits next to the road. Bank angling is available most of the way along the road, and a public angling dock is located along the shore next to the road. A boat ramp is available off the main highway just past the angling dock. A dike access road also runs along the dike on the east edge of the lake. Parking is available at the end of the road and it is a short walk back to the lake. This road is narrow and parking along the edge is not advised. Largemouth bass, bluegill and brown bullheads are also present; however, the bluegill and bullhead populations are very low and angling success is very poor. Anglers are encouraged to practice catch and release on largemouth bass.
