9/14/2026. Big Bear lake is experiencing a significant algae bloom at the moment. Trout fishing has been good especially on the north side between the observatory and the west ramp. The current lake info is showing the best conditions for trout in these areas. For boat anglers the trolling, 1-2 colors max or wedding rings and flicker shads that are going to run less than 10 feet. Drifting live bait, or micetails should also be fairly productive as we transition from summer to fall pattern fishing. For those looking for catfish, cut baits have been the most productive all over the lake, and the bass have posted up on the points and structure. 9/25-26 is the next big fishing event, expect a significant stocking prior to the event.
