Rating - Fair

Wednesday, Sep 21 2022
Rainbows are being caught off small rooster tails and other various spoons and spinners. Size of spoons/spinners range from 0-1. Power bait can also be used with bobber and small split shots.

About

This is a very small (2.6 acres) lake with a maximum depth of only 10 feet. It freezes with thick ice during the winter months but offers good trout fishing from April to early November.

The lake is stocked with rainbow, brook, and lake trout.

Located in Fairbanks it is a popular destination for younger anglers and families on summer afternoons.

There is ample shoreline to fish and pressure is minimal in the early mornings and late afternoons. You can daylight fish nearly 24 hours a day during Alaskan summers.

Techniques & Tips

These are stocked trout on a very small body of water. They will hit on Powerbait, cheese, or worms almost any time of day.

The best time to get a lot of hits is just before and during a quick-moving summer squall. The low pressure associated with small summer thunderstorms and rain showers gets the fish in a feeding frenzy anticipating more food in the water from the storm.

Spinners such as Blue Fox, Mepps, Panther Martin, and Roostertails work well in sunny conditions for rainbow and brook trout, and fly fishing to match Alaska¿s tremendous spring and summer hatch is always fun and reliable.
